Boys Will Be Loud…Apparently

Boyfriend’s are noisy.

This isn’t something they tell you when you sign up, but they are loud. I just thought I would share this casual observation.

Mark just came home from work, and one of the other managers brought him home since he was working all the way in Santa Monica tonight, and he doesn’t drive. But his co-worker came upstairs to see our apartment (it’s pretty rad, and super nerdy), and now Mark is showing him all of the videos that are on the menu for Star Wars: The Old Republic.

It’s cool. I get his desire to share. I mean, those three videos are better than the entire new trilogy. But why do they have to be so loud. I was just being lazy on the couch, trying to watch some TV. Only, I can’t hear my show anymore and so I have been driven into the bedroom.

My first Being Human review on this weeks episode, “The Ties That Blind” is almost ready for posting. I could actually finish it up and get it launched before midnight, but at this point, I think it better to just wait until tomorrow morning. No sense launching an American TV review when the whole country is asleep.

I had today off, and aside from getting in some serious SWTOR playing time, I’ve actually been pretty cranky all day. Its fine. I was off all day and sequestered in my apartment with no one to see me lash out, but it didn’t make for a very productive afternoon. I feel like I spent a LOT of time looking at nonsense on the internet.

Oooh! I did get some news about Comic Con registration today. YAY!

And I found out my friend Chris voices on of the characters in the new street fighter game. I did not know that. So, good job, Chris. His launch party was tonight.

Okay, TV is free again. Yay! See you tomorrow with my review. :)

SWTOR Intro, Part Two: Questing Basics

Let’s rejoin Stormborn, as we move deeper into Ord Mantell.

Some ass stole our ship, and that’s one thing Stormborn cannot tolerate. There is little in this world that matters as much as the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy. In case of death, her last request would be to be buried with it.

But before we can deal with that, we knock out a few snipers on the way into Fort Garnick.

Once there Stormborn picks up a few new quests and finally meets with her trainer.

She has two new levels to cash in, and with them the ability to buy some some new skills that include a thermal grenade and a close combat blaster whip. ‘Cuz slappin people with your gun is sexy.

The next stop on my class quests is to talk to this guy.

He’s gonna help me find my ship, so he sends me onward, towards a new map and the 8 separatist forces we must defeat to prove our worth.

But first…a new level. Because you earn XP faster than credits in the beginning of the game. This time Stormborn gains a kick that stuns a target for 4 seconds, and a more powerful version of a blaster skill she already had learned.

Level four opens up more general quests, and it’s time to make some money because as Stormborn says, “I’m always interested in working if you are interested in paying.” That a girl!

These hubs also give out quests, so keep an eye out for them as well.

I’m a quest-er by nature. I’m not much for PVP, and in this game especially I just love the story. So I generally pick up every quest I can as I move through the game. I grabbed 3 more on the way into the Cantina.(As a side note, you cannot PVP until after you finish your first planet and head towards your respective fleets….after level 10).

Always bind when you see one of these.

Its a quick travel point. Every thirty minutes, you have the ability to travel to any of these spots on your current planet, but only if you have already discovered them. It saves a lot of time in game, and saves taxi money. I always try to log out in a cantina to earn the bonus rest XP, so discovering these locations is especially important.

We will be moving onto the next map in a nearby village when I log on tomorrow. We have to finish the next class quest, and there are many more general quests to be found as well.

But for now, Stormborn is gonna kick back and relax to some music and drinks in the Cantina.

What kind of gamer are you? Do you grab all the quests and level while you advance through the story, or do you tend more towards PVP?

SWTOR An Intro, Part One: Getting Started

image

This is Stormborn. She is my super new, super cool smuggler. She was inspired by Daenarys in Game Of Thrones. Ya know, if Dany faught with a blaster gun and a rifle.

I have only ran the first two quests with her. The first, starts her class quests.

Each class has a specific group of story driven quest chains that will propel them through the game. These are the only quests where you are advised not to group with other players of the same class. If you chose to do this, you must enable that option or when you run into the quest area your group mate will disappear.

This is ONLY if I chose to group with another smuggler. If I group with a trooper, the other class that starts on Ord Mantell, I won’t have to worry about this.

Also, in class quests, group mates cannot interact with the NPCs and answer questions. They are meerly observers of your story. But they can still help you kill stuff, and earn xp.

Now, the other quest I did was an everyone quest. That means any class on Ord Mantell can run the quest, and when dealing with NPCs and quest givers, you roll to determine which character answers questions. You also earn social points for grouping with other players.

How do you like to play? Do you run better on your own, or do you prefer to play in groups?

Late Night Ramblings, a Fansite, and a Clash Of Kings…

I never did find the time to play SWTOR tonight. I am slightly bummed. I am excited to start a new character for the purpose of the blog. I am definitely making a smuggler. I have not explored the smuggler’s starting planet at all, and it’s a different type of class than I usually play in MMO’s. Also, Sam Solo? Haha. No, I won’t name her that.

But still. Sam Solo.

In lieu of playing today, I actually cleaned out my car, organized the hall closet, (finally) put away all the Christmas decorations, and cleaned the house. Oh, and I went to work before doing all of that. So, I think it’s safe to say I had a pretty full day.

Star Wars has really prevented me from doing much else in the past few weeks, so it is a nice feeling to get things done today. I have an early doctor’s appointment tomorrow, and then I work 1 to 9:30pm, but I still plan to start the character tomorrow. Hopefully.

I think I’m actually going to climb into bed and knock out a few more pages of “City of Glass.” I read the first two books in the series in a matter of days. I really don’t know why I am having so much trouble getting into this one. It’s not bad. Maybe a little slower….

Maybe that too, is SWTOR’s fault. I should really lead a more well rounded life.  :)

Anyone out there fan’s of Being Human? I have seen the first season of the British Version, and just the first episode of the American version, but finishing the first season is on the top of my to do list. I have some thoughts that I am going to share in the coming days but in the meantime…

http://www.beingfans.net/

My super awesome, super nerdy friend Kristi Hahn and her sister Dana started a being Human Fan site that has gotten popular in a hurry. It’s Called Being Fans, and they also have a podcast that has been nominated for a Shorty Award. You should stop by their site. It’s way fun. Don’t tell her, but I am totally gonna ask Kristi to guest blog at some point. She is best.

Okay, bed for me. No Project 365 tonight. I just don’t want to. :) Oh, but I will leave you with this gem of pure awesomeness.

Minds: Prepare to be blown.

Shipping off to Alderaan and Yoda pops into Project 365

So I finally finished Tatooine tonight. That planet is out of control huge with so many quests, but it wasn’t my least favorite place so far (that honor goes to Taris and its vast sweeping wastelands) so it was enjoyable right up until the end. Those last couple of quests killed me. I was just so anxious to move along and advance my storyline.

Luckily, I was helped along by my favorite smuggler (aside from Han of course).

This adorable avatar next to mine (With the Wookie) is Kram. That’s Mark backwards for those of you paying attention, and he is played by my wonderfully nerdy partner in crime/significant other.

We have been playing together all night, and I finally logged a few minutes ago because I can’t believe I have been sitting in one position for this long.

I think tomorrow will be a night off from Star Wars. My friend is trying to catch up to us, but also…I miss human interaction.

So for now, I am safe and sound with my crew aboard the ship, gaining rest EXP. When I return on Alderaan (This is the Old Republic, so it hasn’t been blown up yet) I should have a nice stash of double exp coming my way. Makes for faster leveling.

I’m pretty far behind on my project 365ing…so I’m gonna throw up some pictures over the next few days in an attempt to catch up. I am still taking the photos daily…It’s the uploading that kills me.

Alright, here we go…

1.17.2012

This is the ceiling at the Glendale Galleria, where I was working this Holiday season. I thought it would make a cool picture.

1.18.2012

My friend Pope’s adorable puppy Bonka in a rare moment of calm.

1.19.2012

“Yoda. You seek Yoda…” and hot chocolate, apparently.

No, really. It was late, and I was tired and I thought hot coco might make a cool picture….and Mark snuck Yoda into the shot. Yeah, I loved it.

1.20.2012

The Screensaver on Mark’s desktop is what it would look like if he were navigating an asteroid field. He is my favorite. <3

1.21.2012

Our bedroom has many Eiffel Tower’s contained in a small space. I don’t really know why.

1.22.2012

Fluffy white adorableness while watching the playoff’s on Sunday.Cute overdose.

Okay, that’s enough.

I am helping out at a new store tomorrow for work, so I am going to head off to read a bit of “City of Glass,” by Cassandra Claire. Book Three in The Mortal Instruments series. Really good reads, by the way.

I promise to keep you updated on my in-game progress. Still searching for answers to the plague.

How are you all fairing?

Adventures on Tatooine

I am crazy tired. I think my late night video game escapades are finally starting to wear me down. But, the fact that the servers went down at midnight, and I then chose to come write more about my game clearing shows that I have not yet learned my lesson.

On that note, Tatooine is a massive map, and would be hellish without my newly acquired speeder. And all the quests are soooo far apart.

Oh, and I went to the Sarlacc pit tonight RIGHT before we got booted for a patch. We ran the quest in about ten minutes flat, fifteen minutes before we had to all log off. I got to the Cantina with 15 seconds to spare. Extra rest EXP is imperative.

Oh right, but yeah. Sarlacc. I stopped fighting for a second to just stare at it. I feel like the game creators just did such a good job with everything, but this is one great example.

Okay, well, perhaps I should try to sleep since I cannot play. :(

I finally got my project 365 photos uploaded and edited. You can expect an update tomorrow…er…today.

Good night!

My Super Secret Life as a Jedi Consular. #SWTOR

Wow. I know it’s been too long….

But before you judge me, I think it only fair that I explain the really good and totally valid reason for my absence from this blog.

Her name is Anwen and she is a level 26 Jedi Sage. She has committed her life to mastery of the force and she lives her life on the side of the light. Well…with one exception.

This is Tharan Cedrax. They flirt sometimes.

So maybe she is not as pure as she would have you all believe….. (In answer to the undoubted question, why do they flirt? Truth. Because they can and I find that HILARIOUS).

So yeah, Anwen, Tharan and Anwen’s longtime Trandoshan Companion Qyzen Fess have been keeping me occupied while I am not at work, or asleep. Though if I’m being honest, they are also waking me up early and keeping me up late.

Star Wars the Old Republic (or SWTOR as I will most likely use in most cases) is the best MMO that I have played thus far. The story is INCREDIBLE no matter what class you play, or what side you fight for (Light side or Dark side, Republic or Empire).

As for the former…the interaction in this game is also mind blowing. Rather than just space-baring through most of the story, the game encourages you to take an active interest in the choices you make. Not only can those choices affect your relationship with various companions, they can also affect what kind of person you become. Are you a good guy, a Jedi Knight for example who chooses to kill they bad guys, rather than imprison them? You are still fighting for the republic, but now you get Dark Side Points which can lead to some extent of Sith Corruption.

This can make your eyes turn red, and your skin become covered in veins.

Or, are you an Imperial Bounty Hunter who chooses to save the innocent? You are still an active member of the Empire, but now you gain light side points, though you don’t get a halo over time. Fail, in my opinion. LOL.

I’ve played a few classes into their first major story lines (level 15 or so) and a few more for just a few quests, but Anwen has stuck with me. She was the first toon I rolled, and I feel like I betray her when I am away too long. She’s pretty rad.

I don’t know what this blog was supposed to be about. Probably a project 365 update, or something equally lame. But now all I want to do is get back to Tatooine and unearth the mysteries of a dark Jedi plague sweeping across the galaxy. It really is that important.

Back to the ship, “Defender” and onwards to Tatooine.

How do you like the game? What classes do you enjoy playing. Light vs Dark? Empire or Republic?
