Restless…

I don’t feel incredibly content in my current work situation. Since giving up acting last year, I feel like happiness has been a daily struggle. I love my life. I love my fiancé and our two adorable cats. I love my family and I am grateful for my health and the fact that I even have a job. But it is so hard doing anything different once you give up such a long standing dream.

I have two jobs, actually and I am happy to have the employment. I don’t dislike my current work situation due to any fault of my employers. It’s just not what I always dreamed of doing. In the weeks that come, I plan to do a substantial about of research and digging into both on-line jobs and jobs that I can do from anywhere. The notion of being my own boss, making my own hours and working from home is an appealing one.

I HAVE to make a new plan for my life. I have to.  I cannot keep feeling like I am dying inside.

Yesterday, however, was about living.

Mark and I woke up at around 8:30 and headed out to Runyon Canyon for a hike with friends. Despite the fact that I am anxious to leave Los Angeles, I cannot dispute the beauty that is to be found here in so many places.

Runyon Canyon is one of those places.

It was nice to get out and be active before going to work. It has a touch of that European lifestyle I desire….the thought that you can have a job and a life as well.

After the hike, the five of us had breakfast and just enjoyed the lovely day.

After work, many of us met up again to bid farewell to a wonderful friend (who is heading back home to Ohio). We had Late Night Happy Hour drinks at one of Sunset Strip’s best little bar’s, Cabo Cantina. 2 for 1 happy hour twice a day? Yes please!

If you are ever in Hollywood, make sure you check this place out. The drinks are affordable anyway, but half the time the little bar is open, it’s happy hour! And the food here is to die for.

Now it is time for a little bit of exercise (I am getting married in three months) and then off to the restaurant for another night of work.

/Jog

Yes, yes. It’s true. This fan-boy, nerdy, gamer chick has decided to do something very uncharacteristic of herself. Or at least, uncharacteristic of her current self. I am going to get in shape.

Let’s face it, I have been trying to do this for years. I have no concern with my weight or anything like that. My concern is that I eat garbage and can hardly take a flight of stairs without gasping for air. I am not getting any younger, and I should actually care about things like my heath and my heart. Aside from that, my doctor recently made me promise to start exercising for the sake of my acid reflux. I also have to promise to eat breakfast.

So, before my jog this morning I dressed in my favorite nerdy tank top. No point in not displaying my true colors, right?

In case you can’t really read it or just wish to own it, you can find this incredibly fun Dungeons and Dragons inspired shirt at Think Geek.

Anyway….the jog did not go well.

According to my fitbit, I ran/walked just over a mile, in about 18 minutes, and I felt like I was going to thrown up. My chest and throat were burning and I was shaking. So, yeah…out of shape.

The nausea could have been because I = Lame and drank coffee BEFORE I ran. I will not do that again. Just water next time.

Anyway, I came upstairs, threw myself in the shower and tried to make the stomach ache go away. After it finally eased up a little, I had a packet of instant oatmeal while I sipped on a bottle of water.

Over an hour and a half later, I am finally feeling a little better. I’m gonna go have a roast chicken and cheddar wrap with a side of steamed veggies, while I hit up episode two of the American “Being Human.”

To help motivate myself to actually get in shape, I also signed up for a 5K run this morning. It’s down Hollywood Blvd, so it should be really cool, and I’m going to be honest, this medal is the biggest reason why I picked this 5K.

See, I CAN have my own Hollywood Star.

I also just found this cool article, and it’s a perfect workout plan for a 5K in two months (The Hollywood Run is April 7th).

Despite the minor roadblock this morning, I am excited about my new goal.

Now, for lunch!
