I Guess I’m Just Nerdy By Nature…

Sometimes your interests chose you. It’s like being strong in the force or getting that acceptance letter to Hogwarts. But your life will never be the same again.

That’s sort of how I feel about my passion for all things nerd. I think it probably had me in its clutches from the very first moment I picked up a copy of The Lion, the Witch, and The Wardrobe in third grade. And boy, am I glad that I did.

Aside from just being interested in these topics, I am also very involved in the long running Los Angeles stage show, “Dungeon Master,” and its web-series off-shoot “Legends of Atoll.” I attended three gaming/pop culture/comic conventions last year, and plan to double that number in 2012, blogging the whole way.

I have also very recently started running, in an effort to get in shape (and follow my doctor’s orders). As a matter of fact, I started running after beginning this blog, and am amazed with how much I write about it. It has become a sort of secondary blog topic, and I am excited about the two 5k’s I am signed up to run in the coming months.

I have recently completed the November National Novel Writing Challenge NaNoWriMo, and am anxious to conclude and polish my first novel, a fantasy love story geared towards young adults.

In an attempt to become a better writer and novelist, I re-vamped my blog and am focusing it more on my hobbies and passions, namely my love of sci-fi and fantasy, especially in pop culture.  It has moved to its new home at www.necessarynerdom.com, where I hope it will live happily for years to come.

I look forward to hearing from each of you, as we go on a journey of supreme geekiness together.

Live Long and Prosper,

Sam

Back to my #NaNoWriMo Novel

Guess what?

I started working on my novel again.

I really thought I was done with it forever, but after going out with my friend Kara and her husband Nate last week, I was convinced to pick it back up.

Nate was so excited about the concept for my story and told me I just HAD to finish it. He also offered to help me with it, by acting as a beta reader of sorts.

I did recently purchase a Kindle Fire and the small tablet is perfect for editing and writing on the go.

I have already made some progress on the editing. The prologue is basically ready for Nate to read. :)

Had dinner at work tonight. Since we are trying to eat better, I am also trying to avoid eating heavy meals after 7:30 or so at night. So, on the nights that I am closing manager, I have to bring lunch and dinner to work.

Lunch had been leftovers from last night’s delicious farmer’s market feast. I ate that around 3:30, and finally had dinner at around 7:30.

Dinner was grilled chicken breast and sweet potato wedges. Simple, and it had been easy to throw together last night but it still tasted great.

I have a small side salad and about two slices of chicken breast leftover, but I will probably just bring that for lunch tomorrow.

I am probably going to go forage in the fridge for a snack. I am ravenous. This healthy eating thing is killing me.

I need to do a little bit of work for the wedding (namely, start our registry and finish the guest book) and then hopefully some Legend of Korra, and maybe some Big Bang Theory while I lay in bed. I have to open tomorrow and I have a personal training session tomorrow night. :)
